Nice Man on the Train

Yesterday - while on the train from Weybridge to London I met a very nice man. (This was before being groped by a not very nice man on the tube later). He asked if he could sit next to me even though there were vacant seats. He was from Canada and his name was Richard. He's staying in Weybridge for a few weeks while his 18 year old daughter settles over here. She's come here to work for the Summer before she goes to University here in October. So he decided to come with her and help her settle in and spend a few weeks exploring London and Surrey. He wanted to know how to get broadband installed for her in her little flat - so I think I pointed him in the right direction with that (not that I know very much about that kind of stuff - you just ring BT don't you?)

He also wanted to get away from the hot summer in Canada - and as I have a cousin who endures that every year I knew what he was talking about. I told him about lots of places to go and see / explore...some that are on the tourist trail and some that aren't.

Anyway - once we got to Waterloo - I helped him with the tube maps and he travelled part of the way with me.

He gave me his mobile number and has suggested that we meet up for coffee sometime next week and also asked me if I would go to the theatre with him and his daughter in the next couple of weeks - and which shows would be best to go and see. His daughter rides horses in Canada so I suggested that she might like to come and have a sit on Phoebe.

It's lovely to meet new people and it was just very nice to have a chat with somebody on the long and dull journey up to Waterloo - it will also be nice to have a new friend.

  1. He is probably no.1 most wanted in Canada. Their Hannibal Lector if you will!

When he says 'his daughter' he probably means the head of the last prostitute he killed. :-)

  3. Oh please, why isn't anything nice in Christianworld.

I love meeting new people too, at the moment I am describing myself as a celeriac - funny looking but surprisingly popular!!
